LOL!...phones are utilizing 2.3-2.7Ghz quad-core processors, and here Apple is, using a 1.4Ghz dual-core, for a laptop, SMH...nice innovation!

Your brain doesn't have a powerful chip to add to your 1ghz powered brain to figure it all out.

It is an Intel processor and it is not made by Apple. PC industry is also equipped with Intel processors ranging from 1.4 to 3.4 ghz processors with dual and quad processing. Apple offers higher end laptops with higher speeds. The air is for the mobile or on the go user. You can find the same build in Samsung's Series 9 Ultrabook. If you read the article you would see that Intel offers turbo boost. The laptop will use the power when it needs to and increase to a higher speed. Same concept applies for phones. They don't always operate at the 2.3- 2.7ghz range. They will operate below that and only increase when it is necessary.
