Apple Airs New 'Powerful' iPhone 5s Ad [Video]

Posted April 23, 2014 at 2:48am by iClarified
Apple has aired a new 'Powerful' ad for the iPhone 5s that shows the device being used in various ways.

The ad is set to "Gigantic" by the Pixies. Initially, it starts out showing members of a band using apps for the guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. It then flashes to users playing games, capturing video, translating phrases, checking their heart rate, launching rockets, and gazing at constellations using the iPhone 5s.

Finally the ad ends with the tagline, "You're more powerful than you think".

Apple is demonstrating the strength of its ecosystem. It's not about 1 single thing. You are ranting like some lunatic and that doesn't help your case.

The MotionX app on the iPhone could measure heartrate over a year ago, way before the S5 or 5s was launched. I would say that both got the idea from the apps, that arrived first.

True both it's probably how apple made the app work due to 2 flashes like that.

I think how it works is that the light from the flash illuminates the tiny capillaries of the finger and the camera videos the pulses and thus the heartrate. A single flash on the iPhone 5 also works, you just need the flash to be close to the camera lens. What would be good is if the watches can detect and send the heartrate to the phones automatically.

Perhaps they were trying to get people to focus on innovation rather than size.

If only the battery lasted long enough to really enjoy all those apps for more than the duration of this video ad. Maybe that's next. Otherwise, I'm very happy with my 5S.

I knew there would be an app to translate whatever the camera sees, but yeah, what you said below about iOS 8. Apple could score the competition like that.

That's the Word Lens app. It translate words immediately by pointing your camera at the subject.
