Consumer Interest in iPhone 6 is at 'Unprecedented' Levels [Survey]

A new survey from 451 Research finds an unprecedented level of consumer interest in Apple's next generation iPhone 6.

“This is the highest level of demand for an unannounced Apple model in a ChangeWave survey – stronger than we’ve seen in previous years for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 models prior to their announcements,” said Andy Golub of 451 Research. “Speculation over a larger screen iPhone is clearly striking a chord with consumers.”

To measure the potential demand for a new “iPhone 6” model, they presented consumers with a brief description of probable features and asked how likely they would be to buy one when it becomes available.

--
Some analysts think Apple will release its next generation “iPhone 6” later this year. New features would likely include a larger screen size, gesture control, a faster processor, and an updated iOS operating system. The “iPhone 6” is expected to cost $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model, and $399 for the 64GB model on most of the major carriers.
--

14% of respondents said they’re 'Very Likely' and 26% said they're 'Somewhat Likely' to buy the “iPhone 6” in the future. Compare that to the same survey performed before the iPhone 5s launch where 9% of respondents said they were 'Very Likely' and 17% said they were 'Somewhat Likely' to purchase the device.

Apple is expected to release a 4.7-inch iPhone in September and a 5.5-inch device before the holidays.

I will consider getting a larger screen only if one handed operation can still be done on it comfortably like the current iPhones. I've tried a Samsung before and it was extremely frustrating using it.

The way I would buy the iPhone 6 is if they add some unprecedented features. Like last year when the galaxy s4 came out with the air gestures.

That was 2 years ago, and those are hand gestures without touching the screen which I find useless.

The Air Gestures and similar gimmicks are the first things Samsung buyers switch off because they rarely use them and because they eat the battery like a cannibal on a killing spree...
