The highly-anticipated Cydia tweak Eclipse, developed by Guillermo Morán has been submitted to the Cydia store and will be released shortly. However, Morán provided iClarified with a copy so we could give you an early preview!

Eclipse works on most of the native iOS apps and even some third party apps. It darkens the UIViews to various shades of gray for easier night viewing. For third party apps that already feature a night mode, Eclipse does not affect those apps.

Eclipse can be configured via the Settings app. Options include the ability to enable or disable the tweak, darken wallpapers, and change the color of some OS text and highlighting from blue to orange.

While iPad support is not included in the initial release, Morán promises it will be coming soon. In addition, there are plans to make the tweak automatically change to night mode based on the time of day (think f.lux style automatic dimming). There will also be a scheduler so you can customize exactly when night mode turns on or off, and the ability to disable Eclipse in certain apps.

The tweak costs just $0.99 and should be available soon via the Cydia Store. It works on iOS 7 and ARM64 devices including the iPhone 5s.

Take a look at the screenshots below and please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS to be informed when Eclipse becomes available.

Update: The tweak is now available for download! Go check it out!

I really liked this app...until I noticed that I can't play videos from my iphone 5 video folder. I have emailed the author about this, and in the meantime, deleted it from my device.

This tweak still needs big time improvements. Not worth installing yet onto my iPhone 5s.

I really don't like the black text on grey background. It's hard to read and if developers will fix this, they have a serious buyer.

Here's a real question, why didn't you look at how it turned out if upgraded, maybe they want to give people what they wanted, they have been using the same old school app look, but since you want iOS 6 back, this idea will make iOS 7 satisfied to any user wanting old and new apps. How about we rumor apple to add iOS 6 apps, Siri by voice and look, built-in app design, etc. to iOS 7. That will get the doggy begging for their treats.
