Virtual Home Tweak Lets iPhone 5s Users Touch Home Button Instead of Pressing

Posted January 2, 2014 at 5:57pm by iClarified
Virtual Home is a new Cydia tweak that lets you use your Touch ID Sensor as a home button. That means you can simply just tap/touch the home button instead of pressing it to go home. You can also simply tap and hold the home button for the multitasking menu. The tweak obviously requires an iPhone 5s for this since it relies on Touch ID.

Use Touch ID sensor as Home Button and give your home button a break.

Single Tap for Home Button. Tap and Hold for Multitask

This also enables devices to detect unlocking without the need to press home or sleep button first.

In theory, you can even extend the life of your home button, since they often to go bad after a couple of years due to excessive clicking. Another interesting part of the Virtual Home tweak is that it allows you to unlock your phone using Touch ID without pressing the home button or sleep button first.

You can grab the Virtual Home Tweak from Cydia in the BigBoss Repo for free.

This is one perfect app, I was little annoyed when I took iPhone 6 after HTC One but apps like this made my day. Bravo for the developers !

Actually activator can allow this similar function. You can designate the touch id sensor to be registered as a home button click. One touch for home. Two touch for task bar. No need for an additional tweak

it can be useful. you just have to count in your head. 1 sec = 1 home press 2 sec = app switcher i agree about settings would be useful. actually i would prefer it works just like a home press. so a quick press will home and double quick for app switcher. hold for siri.

You need to have passcode enabled and touchid setup before installing this tweak. it should automatically work then. I feel there can be some improvements like configuring the tap duration to register shorter taps and tap and hold to be configrable to double tap etc. but still a good tweak.

Thanks for your reply. Something must be wrong because it just doesn't work for me at all. I have pass code and touch Id set up.

It works perfect except it will NOT wake a phone from sleep to unlock. If it did that it would be one of the best tweaks around.

Actually it does wake from sleep with just holding you're finger over the sensor!!!

From my short experience with it, the unlock without pressing only works for a moment (1~2 minutes) after you lock it. After that you need to press home button or power button to wake it up first.

Hope there will be an update for this..your right, after 2 minutes the touch id wont work unless you try to wake your device by pressing the home button or sleep wake button

I have it on mine and it works like a charm, its the same time that you use pressing the home button, and the puspose of this tweak is that the home button gets damage in time and this saves it from it

Tried it, totally impractical without some settings. It is counter intuitive. You need to touch the home button, but quickly remove or be registered as a touch + hold and go into multitasking. Very, very poorly conceived.
