KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a very good track record with his Apple predictions, believes that the company will release an A7 Apple TV in 2014. Kuo doesn't expect a television set until 2015 or 2016.
We expect Apple to launch a new version of the Apple TV with an A7 processor in 2014, and we forecast 2014 shipments to total 8.2mn units. Shipment growth will be limited unless Apple is able to integrate more TV content, services and its App Store, in our view.
Kuo sees content and establishing a supply chain as the factors holding up the release of a television.
We believe the slowdown in Apple TV shipments suggests Apple faces challenges in integrating TV content and services. If Apple wants to launch iTV, the challenges of integrating content and service are more difficult considering the different TV content ecosystems (e.g. cable operators) in various countries. Moreover, establishing an iTV supply chain is very costly. Thus we believe iTV launch will be delayed to end-2015 or early 2016 at the earliest.
Previously, it was rumored that Apple could release an update to the Apple TV this month.
I own one AppleTV I bought it first then anything else now I own four Roku and I will never buy another AppleTV reason being is no way to Ad new channels no way to have Amazon or any other channel they let you watch whatever they want to
Well that depends on what you want to do with the device, if you want a streaming device then yes Apple TV is the top of the bunch. But then you see things like jailbroken apple tv (I jailbroke my apple tv 2 and gave it to my bro, i have a apple tv 3 and wish it was jailbroken but its no soooooo bad because i can stream my jailbroken ipad through it). You should google "thing you can do with jailbroken apple tv" or google "why you should jailbreak your apple tv" and you see why some posters desperatley want to jailbreak the apple tv 3 (only apple tv 1 and 2 can be jailbroken currently)
The current Apple TV is the most under valued device in home entertainment. Streaming audio (and video) with great quality throughout the entire home is a breeze all for a 100 bucks each room/floor what have u. Love it!! Continuously adding features on a regular basis. Thank you apple for this "hobby" device.
Roku can't do much compared to apple tv, remember the chart back then posted https://iClarified.com/entry/index2.php?enid=32277 thank you for giving us "convincing" advice!
