Mac App Store Bug is Allowing Free Upgrade of Illegal and Trial iWork, Aperture Apps

Posted October 24, 2013 at 4:13pm by iClarified
A bug in the Mac App Store is reportedly allowing users with illegal and trial copies of iWork applications and Aperture to upgrade to the latest version for free, reports 9to5Mac.

Since the Mac App Store now detects boxed copies of iWork and allows them to be updated to the Mac App Store version, it seems the trial versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are perceived by the App Store as being a full purchased copy. This allows users to install yesterday’s updated apps without having to pay anything.

Apple recently announced that it would be offering its iWork applications free to users who purchase a new Mac; however, those with older computers must pay for each application.

The same bug has been found to affect the $80 Aperture application.

It's not a bug...nobody is buying the programs so apple decided to make them free for a little bit...they do it all the time on the app store

It allowed me to update aperture 3.0 trial to 3.5 full. Last night. You can find the trial version online on the torrent sites, install it and update it to 3.5.

It works with the original DVD of iWork '09 and iLife '11 and also aperture 3.2.1 do don't work with Mavericks that's why people that already pay for it can update to Aperture 3.5

I guess it has been fixed! I have just downloaded Keynote from the bay and tried to upgrade it but the $19,99 is still showing!
