Hacker winocm, who previously demonstrated a jailbreak of the iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.4, has tweeted with a minor status update.
The status of the jailbreak is pretty much: it needs work but its almost there. (For a very small subset of devices.)
At this point in time its unclear which devices winocm is planning to support; however, it's likely that the iPhone 5 will be one of them. In early September, he tweeted photos of Cydia running on an iOS 6.1.4 iPhone 5. Previously, he also indicated the successful jailbreak of the iPhone 4 so that's another device that could be supported.
To know as soon as the jailbreak is released you can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS. Please note, this is not a jailbreak for iOS 7.
i dont think apple is signing off one 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 anymore. so if youre on either one of those firmwares do not attemp to upgrade if you want a jailbreak. only update is for ios 7. if you have a jailbreak already on 6.1.2 you will want to stay on that jailbreak from evasion.
Personally, I prefer that my iDevice, especially my iPhone, be stable. If a jailbreak ever comes out that is actually stable, I will consider it. Until that, no way.
two 3GSs...one on 4.3 & one on 5.1.1. both extremely stable for over a year now. couldn't be happier with my jailbreaks! friends have two other 3GSs...one on 5.1.1 & one on 4.3.3. both of those are perfectly stable for over 4 months now! i have no idea what you're talking about.
iPhone 5 is 6.1.4 waiting for jailbreak. Not going to 7 ipad 4 is 6.1.2 and JB and won't be moving till 7 is jail broken. Just a happy camper for now and doing the wait game
Why on earth would Apple release iOS 7? Not that it's bad. It's okay. But just that... Okay. Not fantastic, groundbreaking, not even great. Just okay. And you can't downgrade. All Apple has done is take their existing fan base and divide them into two camps. People who do like iOS 7 and people who don't and therefore no longer like the iPhone. Kinda stupid when you consider that 100% of both camps liked the iPhone before iOS 7. Deciding your customer base is business no no 101. Stupid!
You don't take into consideration that there were a lot of people who disliked the iPhone because the "retro" look of iOS and its weaknesses (like no fast control toggles, no blacklist, etc). So yeah, you might be right with that "divided into 2 parts" thing, but with this step Apple also gained a lot of new customers and lovers. Time will tell, but I think in 1-2 years everybody's gonna love the new generation of iOS, and there will be only a few conservative people who will still be angry. It's like the "I'm gonna stick with Snow Leopard" kind of people. A few years have passed, and the majority of OS X users just love L and ML, and there's only a very small minority who got stucked in the past.
