Larry Ellison: 'We Already Know' What Happens to Apple Without Steve Jobs [Video]

Posted August 13, 2013 at 2:48am by iClarified
Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle and long time friend and colleague of Steve Jobs shared in an interview with CBS's Charlie Rose what he believes Apple without Steve Jobs will look like.

“Well, we already know,” Ellison told Rose. “We saw we conducted the experiment. I mean, it’s been done. We saw Apple with Steve Jobs. We saw Apple without Steve Jobs. We saw Apple with Steve Jobs. Now, we’re gonna see Apple without Steve Jobs.”

Ellison is referring to when Jobs was ousted in 1985 by the Apple board, which caused the company to struggle. He then joined the company again as CEO, bringing new products like the iPod, iPhone and iPad -- making Apple one of the world's biggest companies.

Even with Steve Jobs' hand picked successors like Tim Cook and the rest of the executive team (Jony Ive, Eddy Cue, etc) Ellison still has a hunch that history will repeat itself.

Stveve always made sure the innovators got their funds- hence advanced products He knew this would bring untold revenue. Tim Cook seems more middle management style and the innovators I sense have a much more limited budget and compete with depts like marketing etc. for funds. With their gaze firmly on the bottom line only for shareholders you see nothing except the ground. Tim raise your eyes to where Steve looked, took action then talked and Apple will survive. Choose the bottom line and fights then the road begins an ever increasing slope downhill. I imagine it must be heady to jump into such a huge transition - I have faith that you will remember Steve and get your balance by trusting yourself and get back on track Here's Hoping

He left plans for a few years after his death so I'm pretty sure we got at least a couple more years of innovation and I'm sure they were properly trained and will keep up with what made them a success in the first place.

All the devices from now on aren't approved by Steve. Well have to see what they've done without him.

Having the company depend so much on a single individual, no matter how brilliant, was a bad idea. It should have been more of a team. Death happens and they should have been built to accommodate losses.

Have you read the article? they were a team, the man got austed and things went south, he came back and company flourished beyond their imagination. They are still a 'team' and he's ousted for life now..lets see how things continue to develop..I have a presentiment though..

Think about this :- All Apple, including the board and the investors need to realize is that NO company is about one person, that's why it is a company ... The only thing Apple needs to do is have faith in the driver and all the people that make Apple what it is .. Stop trying to heap all the success/blame on Steve Jobs as he wouldn't have been anything with out Apple as he had to keep going back to Apple to make himself and Apple successful ....

Yeah, but Steve Jobs assembled the team and guided the team. The company struggled without him. Facts are facts.

I love Apple, but the fact remains that as far as the iOS 7,the i5S,and it's plastic cheap clone are all the proof anyone would need:Apple is heading for the toilet if things don't change, and quick...........Shit they're already halfway there.

The "MAN" how exactly? Steve Jobs was a man who could take an idea, put his magic on it, and give us something that seems unimaginable. Scott Forstall was just the engineer behind iOS and most people did not even know who he was until he was fired.

What he is foreshadowing is true, but there is one key missing. Who would be the "Steve Jobs" of this repeat in history? Nobody better mention Scott Forstall. Still have respect for the guy, but he lacks a lot of things to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Jobs.
