Microsoft has cut the price of the Surface Pro tablet by $100 until August 29th, reports The Verge. This follows the 30% price cut on the Surface RT tablet made just recently.

Microsoft has confirmed to The Verge that between August 4th and August 29th customers in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the US will pay $100 less for Surface Pro. "We’ve been seeing great worldwide success with Surface RT pricing and keyboard-cover promotions over the past several months and are proud to offer Surface Pro at more affordable prices starting today."

Microsoft is expected to release refreshed Surface tablets in the near future. The Pro tablet is said to be receiving a Haswell processor and the RT tablet is said to be getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. New accessories including a battery equipped keyboard cover are also expected.

I don't know if Microsoft can recover from their terrible marketing decision. Going with Windows 8, widely considered an abomination, really hurt them on the Desktop side. But on the tablet side, it absolutely killed them. Nobody wants a tablet with Windows 8 installed on it. Nobody. And it's a shame, because Windows 8 really isn't so bad on a tablet. But no one is willing to take the risk that is required to discover that fact.

you so wrong on win 8 it's a very good OS on the Desktop side it's a little mess up but if you know what to do all is good now on the tablet side it's the best better then iOS

Whats funny is even when they say the surface (1st one) is older now and is cut $ wise, its still cutting edge technology. Its amazing that the surface now costs a little more than the nintendo 64 when that first came out.
