Popular iOS developer Ryan Petrich has posted a screenshot which appears to show Activator running on iOS 7.
Earlier today Petrich tweeted saying, "System version too new?". Alongside the tweet was the picture below. It shows the Springboard of an iPod touch with an Activator icon and a UIAlert window which reads:
System Version Too New Activator has not been tested to work with this version of iOS. Some features may not work as designed.
Notably, this alert does not seem to be a UIAlert that could be generated from within a sandboxed application, suggesting that device may be jailbroken.
It's unclear if Petrich was able to use chpwn's failbreak or if another exploit has been found. Last year, pod2g reported that with iOS 6 Apple had closed comex's developer account based exploit that had been used by hackers to root their iDevices for two years.
Notably, hacker p0sixninja recently announced that he has "got a lot of amazing things coming to you all soon. think bigger than jailbreak ;)" It's been suggested that he may have found a bootrom exploit.

Nope... Sorry... I don't think this means jailbreak at all... He most likely has a developer account with certificate and provisioning.. Meaning he can sign and install his own app...

@ Timmy. Totally agree with you. Jailbreak is easy...the hard part is getting the cydia tweaks to be compatible. Even when the jailbreak happens on ios 7, imma wait until the tweaks are compatible.

This isnt jailbroken if it was he would be showing cydia running on the decive all he has done is used Certificate & Provisioning which are files that allow you to use applications like iModSign. This is an application that allows you to sign iPA files (unauthorized applications) on your iOS device without jailbreaking, the only way to code sign an app is with an apple developer account with the files that apple developers get this lasts for a year after your udid is registered if you go to a site like imzdl they are selling these slots normal ones for $8 and the slots with certificate and provisioning for $16 so dont get your hopes up folks this isnt a jailbreak!

Not really at all. I have to disagree. Back in the iOS 6 beta days when there was a tethered jailbreak for the device I had, you would get a popup with activator that was identical to this one. He could have easily tether jailbroken, and install the .deb file. Most beta jailbreaks don't include cydia as it is too unstable until Saurik releases an update for it. And jailbroken apps a lot of time cannot be installed with a simple IPA file. It the majority of the time HAS to be a deb file due to all of the system components it needs to use as well as root access to allow it to function how it needs to. Redsn0w for iOS beta 6 never had Cydia, you had to get it manually. So just because there isn't a picture of Cydia, does not mean it isn't jailbroken.

Jailbreaking is the easy part. Coming up with an untethered exploit for the Jailbreak is the thing that matters, which there is currently none for iOS 7.

Big who cares. But, there's still time for Apple to close the loop hole in ios7. Let's hope they don't so it'll be untethered sooner rather than later.
