These are instructions on how to perform a tethered jailbreak of your iPhone 4 on iOS 6.
A tethered jailbreak means you will need to connect your device to the computer each time you reboot.
Step One Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage
Download the latest version of RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the 6.0 firmware from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. (Note: you do not need to download the 6.0 firmware if you are already on iOS 6.0)
Extract the RedSn0w zip file by double clicking it.
Step Two: If you haven't already updated to iOS 6 then open iTunes from your dock.
Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down Option and click the Restore button. Restore is preferred as it won't create any wasted space on your iPhone.
Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 6.0 firmware ipsw. Click the Choose button to continue.
iTunes will now update your iPhone to the new firmware.
**Important: If you want to keep your UltraSn0w unlock then follow these instructions to update.
Step Three Right click or control-click the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder we extracted earlier and choose Open from the popup menu that appears.
Step Four Once RedSn0w opens ensure your device is connected and click the Jailbreak button
Step Five Turn OFF your device then click the Next button
Step Six RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode. You can find more help with DFU mode here.
Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.
Step Seven Your iPhone will now be exploited with limera1n.
Step Eight RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data.
Step Nine Select Cydia from the list of options and click Next.
Step Ten Your iPhone will now be rebooted again and RedSn0w will begin uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel.
Step Eleven Once this is complete you will be notified that RedSn0w is done and that this is a tethered jailbreak.
BOOT TETHERED Once you have jailbroken you will need to rerun redsn0w to boot tethered.
Step One From the main RedSn0w menu click the Extras button.
Step Two Select Just boot from the Extras menu to boot tethered and follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode again for boot.

ME LLEGO UN MAIL AVISANDO QUE MI IPHONE 5 YA ESTABA DESBLOQUEADO POR MEDIO DEL IMEI, COSA QUE NO ES ASI. SEGUI TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES PARA DESBLOQUEAR PERO TAMPOCO FUNCIONO. RESTAURE CON EL IOS 6.1 QUE TIENEN Y TAMPOCO FUNCIONO. LES MANDE 6 CORREOS PIDIENDO SOPORTE DESDE HACE 8 DIAS Y NADA
ME QUEDO CON EL SABOR DE BOCA DE QUE NO CUMPLEN
I finally got mine working. You have to restart redsn0w (which is actually in the directions but I didn't notice) AND reselect your IPSW (6.0 not 6.0.1) before the last "just boot" phase.
Here's a good video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qjBiCyR-Bs
I followed the latest redsn0w jailbreak steps for a SoftBank IP4 already on iOS 6 (updated using stock from Apple) but I added previous SAM activation ticket and not Cydia. Now I have an IP4 that boots untethered with no problemsand I have no idea why. Very happy but don't know why it is not tethered.
I'm thankful for the jailbreaks but if the reason they haven't JBd the 4s or A5 devices is the usual it "cost money to get the devices" than dammit charge us... Ask for donations but 2 devices behind in a jail break. Well, I just expected more. No I can't code but I am a fan of the work these guys do and this is a let down. "3GS and iPhone 4 devices... Everybody is jumping to a minimum of 4s since the 5 is just a elongated 4s and the 4 is slow on ios6....
After the jailbreaking starts the following appears in the Redsn0w window: Missing Keys.plist data for this build and my iPhone freezes. I am running iOS 6.0 on iPhone 4.
I had the same problem. I fixed by going back and re-jailbreak again but this time I went to Extras and chose my 6.0 ipsw from pc before starting jailbreak process. Everything went well this time around and remember to boot tethered after. My iphone was jailbroken before with Redsn0w Dev4 but somehow my Cydia got broken but it got fixed after successfully re-jailbreaking with new Redsn0w.
Thanks man. Just a little bit more help. Before clicking Jailbreak button, you went to Extras and clicked on Select IPSW. Did you have iOS 6 already on your device? Did you have to do the Restore before starting the jailbreak?
