Boot Test: iPhone 2G vs. 3G vs. 3GS vs. 4 vs. 4S vs. 5 [Video]

Posted September 27, 2012 at 4:29am by iClarified
We've posted a test comparing how long it takes the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5 to boot.

Every device was freshly restored to the highest firmware version support by the device.

Take a look below...

I'm pretty sure that the iPhone 3G did NOT have a clean restore, as there shouldn't be a wallpaper on an untouched 4.2.1 FW.

It's a lockscreen wallpaper and it has always been available to change on the 3G.

i got one. strap an iphone 5 to a dolphin, release it in the wild. then strap an iphone 4s to grizzly bear and release it in the wild. now wait and time how long it takes either one to call you back.

Why is the iPhone 2G the only one charging while thery are all connected with the USB cable..? :P

because the 2G is so old that the battery is useless without connected to power cable. so to standardize, all other iPhones is also connected with cable but not powered.

The more apps you have on your springboard, the more the time it needs to boot. You should make the test with every device at the latest possible stock iOS. No additions.

this test is completely stupid!!! Sorry Iclarified, but you wasting your time to compare the time it boot up!!!!! First all this iphone have different hardware to expect it run the same? Stop being hallucinate. Second, 0:15 all time start should be the same y it be 7.67 7.67 7.71 7.71 7.71 and 7.75 completely different?

Who is expecting them to boot the same. The test is being done to compare and see how the iphone boot time has improved. No one is expecting it to be the same..

It is often called iPhone 2G because the original iPhone only supported 2G network connections.
