The initial batch of iPhone 5 orders are starting to ship out from China. Apple is using UPS this time to ship the iPhones.
While Apple has not sent out shipping emails or updated the status online to "shipped," users who ordered with Apple can use a trick to check their tracking number on UPS.
Note that this trick only works for orders from Apple.com
Simply fill out the track by reference form on UPS, and use your phone number associated with your Apple ID for the reference number. If that phone number does not work, keep trying any phone number that could be associated with your wireless account or the number you used to upgrade.
If none of your phone numbers work, try entering your Apple Order number, but leave off the last two characters.
Don't panic if UPS could not find your tracking, Apple is still sending these out!

I used my apple order number. and it seemed to work, but now my tracking no shows that its in minnesota out for delivery.
I live in massachusetts...

Try signing up for SMS / Text alerts on UPS.com site all those who ordered on Apple.com, the text shall tell the exact details where the phone is right now. For all those who see iphone stuck in Alaska, they will find their phone is lying safe in Louisville, KY.

Mine says the same thing but when I track ups it left anchorage AK at 1:00am this morning ! Waiting for my next update ! It says it's on schedule for the 21st

I have seen on some forums that folks have gotten confirmation mails that their phones hv shipped from apple, Verizon and AT&T . Don't want last moment surprises!!! Too excited to lay my hands on !!!

I think the couriers might have deliver some of these early because if apple sold twice as many as last year then they couriers will be overwhelmed so it might be forced to deliver early

I don't know if I am doing something here or this method does not work for UK buyers, I bought mine directly from Apple at 8:01am, and in their website it says 9/21, obviously this means 21st September, however every time I try to follow this guide and check UPS states on delivery *By putting the phone number, even put order number to check* I get no result, or an error, mind explaining the process for a dummy like myself? I tried following other method of input and with no result...

Mine is for AT&T. It shows a departure scan from Nashville, TN yesterday at 4.01 PM and again today at 3.03 PM. they must be holding them until Thursday as it's set for Next Day Air but delivering on Friday.
