YouTube App No Longer in iOS 6 Beta 4 [Updated]

iOS 6 beta 4 has removed the YouTube app which was featured on the device ever since the original iPhone.

Hopefully this is just a temporary bug or error, as YouTube is still present on the Apple TV, but disappeared from the iPhone and iPad. On the other hand, it could be Apple trying to break away from having Google services on its device, as it introduced its own Maps app in iOS 6.

We'll keep you updated on this matter...

Update: Apple has commented on this matter to The Verge
Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.

YouTube app was already moved to the second home screen in iOS 6 beta 3. Saw its removal coming and it was outdated anyway. Google will release an updated YouTube app on the App Store soon!

One more cord cut from Apple and the ensuing thermonuclear war with Google. It's immaterial (mmot) point such that Android only flourishes overseas on non-Apple devices because it's free. Apple should just keep improving their products fervishly and let cosumers decide. At $199 subsidized price, buyers would be foolish to get anything other than IPhone, simply for the resale value, unless one is an Apple hater.

You don't have to like Apple to understand how shitty Samsung really is. They're like VW when it comes to quality. Shitty

it's about time they turned it off. the YouTube app on iOS hasn't been updated since like iPhone OS 2. It's terrible, restricted and a lot better via Safari anyway.

Apple Says Google’s YouTube Won’t Be in Next Version of IOS Apple Inc. said Google Inc. (GOOG)’s YouTube won’t be included in the next version of iOS, the software used in the iPhone and iPad, the latest evidence of escalating competition between the two companies. “Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended,” said Trudy Muller, a spokeswoman for Cupertino, California-based Apple. “Customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser, and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.”
